The Appalachian Trail has been on my bucket list for as long as I've known it existed. Due to the length and complexity involved with hiking it I've had to push it to the background and bide my time while slowly making preparations for it. In March of 2018 I realized that my dream would finally be possible and I began preparing in earnest for a 2019 northbound through-hike. This involved learning as much as possible about the trail, about hiking for months at a time, about the gear that would help make such a journey possible, and about the mental fortitude that would be required to persevere through all the hardships I would face. I began hiking as much as possible to prepare myself and quickly gathered and tested the equipment I would take with me.
This adventure will change me. I understand that. I accept that. I hope for that. May this change be for the better. I will look for ways to improve myself and hope to share anything I discover. I welcome your prayers as this will not be a walk in the park and I will rely on the strength of Jesus Christ to carry me through.
My trail name is "Free".
I am Free.
2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom.
Galatians 5:1
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
