Morrow

The Uwharrie forest is a spot of green in an area that otherwise lacks for good hiking. The drive up to the main trailhead was smoky due to the ongoing effort to protect against wildfire by doing small, contained fires to clear underbrush. It made the whole area smell like a campfire.

Winter months without snow are, in my humble opinion, not as openly pretty as hikes during other seasons. There are a lot of browns and greys and not much contrast. However, you'll notice that if you look closely you can still find plenty to make you ooh and ahh with that special wonder and delight that only comes from experiencing nature up close and personal. I hope that some of these photos help you to see that as well.
